From Service to Startup: Local Veteran Operates Successful Business

In the United States, nearly one in 10 businesses – or approximately 2.5 million—are Veteran-owned.  These businesses contribute approximately 1.4 trillion dollars to the nation’s total sales/receipts per year, making them a critical pillar of the American economy.  Here in Maine, according to most recent data, almost 12% of businesses are Veteran owned.

Union Veterans of The Civil War

Help is currently being sought in finding the grave site of the last Civil War Soldier to pass away and is buried in Washington County. Perhaps members of the several Washington County historical societies might have the answer. Or perhaps a descendant of a Civil War Soldier might know just where that person might be buried.

Eastport Gallery Members’ Work on View at EAC

The Eastport Gallery on Water Street has closed for the season, and gallery members have moved their work to Washington Street Arts Center Gallery, where it will remain for the winter season. A collection of works by Alice Chen, Judy Clendenning, Nicols Fox, Dominic Noe, Elizabeth Ostrander, Joyce Weber, Shelley Weber and Lora Whelan is currently on view.
