Down East Hospice Volunteers Annual Recognition Brunch

On January 26, Down East Hospice Volunteers said 'thank you' to their dedicated hospice volunteers.  The event took place at the Bluebird Restaurant where everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet brunch.  Beautiful poems were read, stories were shared that were moving, funny, touching and always meaningful.  Friends of hospice also joined the group.  Down East Hospice Volunteers is the only volunteer hospice in Washington County, providing free comfort care, emotional support, bereavement support and much more.  DEHV provides workshops for the community, hospice volunteer trainings, co-facilitates cancer support meetings, all free of charge.  DEHV is a non-profit and does not receive any funding from the state or federal governments.  Support comes from donations, grants and fund raising events.  DEHV will be providing a training for new volunteers this Spring in the Machias area, and in the Calais in the Fall. This is something you can do.  For information about our services and the volunteer training - 726-5087 / 454-7521 ext. 126  or downeasthospice@yahoo.com.   See our Facebook page.
