Thursday, May 3rd will be Pre-K Registration from 9-11 a.m.  Please call the school for an appointment.

Please note that if your child is absent from school you need to send in a note with them the following day or it is considered an unexcused absence.

Here is the Attendance Policy as is written in the handbook:

Pupils must be regular and punctual in attendance.  An excusable absence shall mean an absence for one of the following reasons:

Personal illness:

Appointment with health professionals that cannot be made outside the regular school day;

Observance of recognized religion holidays when the observance is required during a regular school day;

Emergency family situations; or

Planned absences for personal or educational purposes which have been approved in advance by the principal.

In all cases of necessary absence, the parent must send a note to the teacher on the day of school following an absence stating the cause.  If a student has an excused absence he/she will have the opportunity to make up the work he/she missed with 24 hours for each day missed.

State Law (20A-S 5051) defines the habitual truant as a student who has attained the equivalent of 10 full days of unexcused absences or 7 consecutive school days of unexcused absences during a school year.  Parents of habitual truants will be invited to confer with the principal for working out an attendance plan prior to initiating legal proceedings.

If it becomes necessary for a student to leave school during the day, a parent or authorized adult should come to the school for his/her child.  The parent or authorized adult must sign a dismissal form before the child can leave the building.  This form is located in the foyer by the secretary’s office in a notebook.  AES cannot permit students to leave school with persons other than the parent unless they have authorization from the parent.
