Man Arrested for Stabbing Woman in East Machias

On March 31, around 4:33 a.m., the Washington RCC received a 911 call from a male subject in the Machias area reporting a woman had been stabbed. Machias Police Chief, Grady Dwelley spoke with the caller who reported that a female had been stabbed at a residence in East Machias. Chief Dwelley and Deputies responded to the residence in East Machias. Three people were located inside the residence including a female that appeared to have a large laceration on her right hand. During the investigation, a knife consistent with the injuries was recovered from the residence.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year old Darryl King of Bronx, New York, was arrested for Aggravated Assault, Violation of Bail and an outstanding warrant and was transported to the Washington County Jail. The 22-year old female did not require additional medical attention for her injuries, the assault appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute between King and his girlfriend.

King was initially held on $3,500 cash bail on the outstanding warrant and held without bail for the new criminal charges. King made his initial appearance on April 2nd in Washington County Court. King's bail was set by the court at $10,000 cash for the new charges and bail remained at $3,500 for the Failure to Appear warrant. The Judge ordered the bail be consecutive.
