March weather summary for Robbinston: The month of March experienced excessive warmth (plus seven degrees) during the first ten days, but then cooler weather offset some of this. The monthly mean temperature of 32.6 degrees was 2.1 degrees above normal. Maximum for the month was 56 degrees on the 29th, while the minimum was 9 degrees on the 18th and 19th. There were three days with maximum temperatures 32 degrees or below, and 29 days with minimums  32 degrees or below. There were 996 heating degree days or 66 below normal. Total since July stands at 6,105 or 376 below normal.

March was on the dry side, but had excessive snowfall. Total March precipitation of 3.71 inches was 1.45 inches below normal. The first quarter total stands at 17.29 inches or 3.55 inches above normal. Greatest daily amount of 1.02 inches fell on the 8th. There were 12 days with measurable precipitation. Total March snowfall of 37.1 inches was 18.1 inches above normal. This is the snowiest March in 24 years of record! The previous March record was 35.3 inches in 2001. Total snowfall for the season stands at 99.6 inches or 8.1 inches above normal. Greatest daily snowfall of 11.0 inches fell on the 13th, while the greatest snow storm total of 20.2 inches fell on the 13th - 14th. This is a new record snow storm total for March! It beats the old March record of 18.3 inches set March 6th - 8th, 1999). This snow storm was the 4th greatest for any month. It was beaten only in January 2009 (20.3 inches), February, 2015 (28,0 inches), and February 2017 (28.2 inches). There were nine days with measurable snowfall and 25 days with an inch or more of snow on the ground. Maximum snow depth was 25 inches on the 14th.

Highest barometer was 30.81 inches on the 26th, while the lowest was 29.11 inches on the 15th. Mean relative humidity of 80.3 percent was a new March high beating 79.3 percent set in March 2013. Lowest humidity of 25 percent occurred on the 27th. Prevailing wind direction was west with an average speed of 6.0 miles per hour.  Peak wind gust was 43/north on the 22nd. There were 2 days with winds exceeding 40 miles per hour. There were 5 clear days, 6 partly cloudy days, and 20 cloudy days. Daytime sky cover averaged 77 percent. Dense fog occurred on the 30th. There were only a total of 115.0 sunshine hours for the month which established a new March record low! The previous March low was 126.6 hours in March 2013. There were only 14.9 sunshine hours during the first 15 days of March.
