I just went through some older pictures and happened to find one that showed Andy driving our Willies Jeep across West Grand Lake with hardly a sprinkle of snow on the ice. We had an ice shack on the south side of Big Mayberry Cove. The ice auger was just barely long enough to get thru the thick ice. I spent time with folks who had just fished Farm Cove over this past week and they were surprised that the lake did not have an ice ridge to deal with on their way back to the dam. We certainly had plenty of cold weather this year.

The Women to Women will be having their annual Pot Luck Valentine’s Party on February 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Lake Stream Schoolhouse.  Everyone is welcome. This is a terrific event with great food, lots of laughter and time well spent together.

Come out to Grand Lake Stream and celebrate the Great Maine Outdoor WEEK with Downeast Lakes Land Trust!  On Friday, February 9 join DLLT Education and Outreach Manager Colin Brown for an evening snowshoe hike.  Participants will be on the lookout for animal tracks, discuss snowshoe techniques, and head off-trail.  Meet at the Grand Lake Stream Dam parking lot at 3:30 p.m. to carpool to the trailhead, and bring your own snowshoes.  For more information, please contact DLLT at (207) 796 – 2100, or email cbrown@downeastlakes.org.
