Local Chambers of Commerce Unite in Common Goals

The two prominent chambers of commerce in the region – the St. Croix Valley Chamber of Commerce and the St. Stephen Chamber of Commerce – have created a strong working relationship in the interest of promoting their shared goals. The chambers have reciprocated membership and both have established strategies for progressing forward under their recently appointed leadership. The opportunity to meet the new directors, Helen Messemer-Thomas and Tara Cleghorn, for Calais and St. Stephen, respectively, will be available to the public at an open house sponsored by Camden National Bank on June 20th.

“Our common goals are working towards growing this region into an even better place to work, play, shop, visit and live,” said Messemer-Thomas. Messemer-Thomas comes from a background of working with nonprofits to generate resources and grants to better serve the Calais area. Cleghorn previously worked in education prior to acting as assistant director for the St. Stephen chamber.

The open house will offer refreshments and door prizes, and will present attendees with the occasion to meet the members of both chambers as well as keeping apprised of upcoming events. For those interested in becoming members of the chambers, the benefits are numerous. In addition to gaining low-cost online marketing solutions and having representation in local government, members of both chambers have access to health insurance.

The open house will be held on Tuesday, June 20th from 5-7 p.m., at Camden National Bank at 344 Main Street in Calais. For further information, please contact the St. Croix Valley Chamber of Commerce at 454-2308.
