Carolyn Matilda (Monk) Carle died Sunday, March 26, 2017, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Orcutt Carle. They were to have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.  

In addition to her husband, she is survived by their children, Sarah Vallera and husband Donald of Goshen, CT; Peter Carle and wife Patricia of East Windsor, NJ; Gary Carle and wife Renee of Bristol, CT; Edward Carle and wife Vivian of Bristol, CT; David Carle and wife Paula of Bristol, CT; and Ellen Carle and fiance Kevin Fournelle of Fairfield, CT; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by two sisters, Ruth Smith of Southington, CT; and Elaine Dukette of Cassville, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her sister Grace Currier, brother George Monk Jr., and an infant son, Kenneth Parks Carle.

Born on March 2, 1932, in Princeton, Maine, to George and Bertha Monk, Carolyn grew up in the small New England community and married her high school sweetheart. After a few years of living in the West, they returned to their hometown to raise their family and later moved to central Connecticut where they retired. Carolyn was a loving caregiver and homemaker, a generous friend known widely for her hospitality, encouraging spirit and grace.

A memorial service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held on Saturday, April 8, at 1 p.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA).
