The latest from the Grand Lake Snowmobile Club. The Snow Rabbit (the new groomer) saw its first action of the season. Our Club trail “Horseback” has been groomed; it runs from the Grand Lake Snowmobile Clubhouse around the west side of Big Lake and down to the Monroe Lake intersection of Stud Mill Road. It is easy to access the rest of town from the Clubhouse, including the Pine Tree Store

This winter is shaping up to be one of the great winters to snowmobile to Grand Lake Stream! All the amenities are available including gas and food and a place to warm up! The Pine tree store is open from 7 to 7 every day

Downeast Lakes Land Trust wishes everyone, near and far, a very Happy New Year!  Best wishes for 2017.

The Down East Sunrise Trail (DEST) has been completed with addition of the final two miles from Hancock into Ellsworth, making the trail 87 miles long. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on December 2. Trail users include ATV and snowmobile riders, who can access 800-miles of ATV and snowmobile trails including ITS 81 and 82 from the DEST, walkers, bicycle riders, horseback riders, and cross-country skiers. For more info go to the Bureau of Parks and Lands.

After all those delicious meals we had over the holidays and watching the ads on the television about losing those extra pounds we tend to think of ways we can melt the extra weight away.  I happened to see a comment that said that if you walked a mile through 6 inches of snow it was equivalent to walking 2 miles on bare ground. Now doesn’t that sound pretty easy??

A special thanks to everyone for your contributions to The Grand Lake Stream Advertiser column and your many comments and responses. Remember the Column is here for you to use and share information with your many friends who love GLS. We wish great joy to all our readers and especially to your good health in 2017.
