Riverside Rebekah Lodge #140 recently collected items and money for Sarah’s House in Brewer, with the cooperation of the Downeast Credit Union branches in Baileyville and in Calais.  The items were delivered to Sarah’s House, where we were met by House Manager Delores Landry and her assistant, Joan Kirk.  We were given a tour through the beautiful facility, and were told that since their doors opened, 45% of their clients have come from Washington County.

The facility can handle 20 people at a time.  Each patient must have a care giver stay with them, since there is no overnight staffing.  Each bedroom has twin beds, bureaus, a television, its own bathroom, and heat and air control.  The front of the building, as can be seen from Route 1A, houses a lovely kitchen/ dining area as well as a spacious living room.   Thanks to the staff of Downeast Credit Union branches as well as to the generosity of area citizens.
