JAY P. MACARTHUR

Princeton - Jay P. MacArthur, 53, passed away on March 21, 2016 after a courageous battle against cancer. His family was by his side to comfort him as he was called home to the Lord. Jay was born in Calais, ME to Ronald and Patricia MacArthur. Jay acquired his lifelong values and outstanding work ethic while living a great childhood in the close-knit community of Princeton, ME. Since a young age, Jay was fond of working in the woods, inspired by his father, especially when it came to helping him with the pulling ponies. He later furthered his interest in logging by attending truck driving courses at the Empire Career Center in Utica, New York.

Jay continued to haul over the roads and run other heavy equipment for many many years, working for multiple different trucking companies, including Orland Dwelley & Sons Inc. for over a decade. Not only did he pursue a talent for trucking, Jay was also gifted with a talent of being such a well-rounded handy man, capable of doing almost anything to support his family and friends. With a passion for fishing, hunting, and other outdoor recreations, Jay enjoyed spending these special moments with his children, teaching them everything he knew about the things he loved to do. With such an outgoing, fun personality, there was never a dull moment for those who were lucky to have spent time with Jay P. He was such a well-liked, admirable man who will be missed and loved by so many.

Jay was predeceased by both his paternal and maternal grandparents and is now survived by many of his wonderful family members: wife Linda (Ridgewell) MacArthur, married since 2006, happily together for a total of 24 years; son Jayson Cehfus and grandson Jayson Cehfus Jr.; son Nicholas Landry, girlfriend Katellyn Lanteigne, and grandson Mason Landry; son Wyatt MacArthur, daughter Jaycie MacArthur and boyfriend Curtis Allen; daughter Brandi (Cehfus) MacArthur and husband Bob MacArthur, and grandsons Seth and Ian MacArthur; mother and father Patricia and Ronald MacArthur. He also leaves his siblings: brother Creston MacArthur and girlfriend Jodi McLaughlin, sister Peta Brown married to Grover Brown,  sister Heidi Potter married to Brad Potter, and brother Jeremy MacArthur. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends.

Arrangements for a celebration of Jay’s life were taken care of by Mays Funeral Home and were held on Saturday, March 26 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church Street, Calais.  Jay asked that it not be a sad time for his family and friends, that it be a time for remembering all the good times spent with him, by telling stories and sharing a few laughs among the family members and close friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Jay P. to Sarah’s House, 346 Main Road Holden, ME 04429.
