Zen Roshis to Offer Meditation Workshop

We are pleased to announce that Melissa Myozen Blacker, Roshi and David Dae An Rynick, Roshi, are offering an Introduction to Zen Meditation workshop on Sunday, September 21, from 4 pm to 6:30 pm at DownEast Massage Therapy, 848 U.S. Route 1, Pembroke. There will also be a free, vegan, gluten-free supper after the workshop

Melissa Myozen Blacker, Roshi is a Boundless Way Zen priest and Dharma successor to James Ford Roshi. Melissa is co-editor of THE BOOK OF MU, published by Wisdom Publications, and her writing appears in several other publications including BEST BUDDHIST WRITING, 2012, published by Shambhala Publications, THE HIDDEN LAMP: STORIES FROM TWENTY FIVE CENTURIES OF AWAKENED WOMEN, 2014, published by Wisdom Publications, and a new article on koans featured in the July, 2014 Shambala Sun magazine. 

David Dae An Rynick, Roshi is a lay Zen teacher, and a Dharma heir to George Bomun Bowman who is the first Dharma successor to the Korean Zen master Seung Sahn.  David is the author of THIS TRUTH NEVER FAILS, 2012, Wisdom Publications, and his writing appears in several other publications including BEST BUDDHIST WRITING, 2013, published by Shambhala Publications.

“Zen is about waking up to our true lives as human beings,” says Melissa. “The discipline of Zen is simple to learn, and takes a lifetime to practice and integrate into daily life and work,” adds David.  In this workshop, Melissa and David will teach the basics of Zen meditation.
