Town News

The weather has been wonderful and further words would do it injustice.  We all must learn to enjoy each day with the weather that comes.

Friends and relatives held a baby shower for Allie (and Brent) Bohanon last Saturday at the church.  Baby Bohanon received many items that she will need when she arrives.

The Riverside Rebekahs held two successful fund raisers on Friday.  They had a road toll on Main Street and a well-provisioned food sale at the shopping center.  The members have earned enough money to send 10 children to camp this summer in addition to funding their nursing scholarship.  This small group of dedicated workers makes a big difference in this area.  They are now planning for their July breakfast at the Hillside Odd Fellows’ Hall on Sunday, July 6th from 7 am to 9:30 am.  Everyone is invited to meet, greet and eat (with) their neighbors on Sunday.

Lynn Hill has a broken femur in addition to her injured hip ball and socket.  She is recovering from last week’s surgery on her femur and is finding being immobile very bothersome.  We are cheering for you, Lynn.

The members of the Peoples’ United Methodist Church are making plans for their  summer picnic at Pleasant Lake.  It will be a fun time and anyone who has not signed up, should call 427-3855 and leave a message.

The ladies who are planning on having their businesses at the old shopping center are putting a lot of hours and elbow grease to get the shops prepared for visitors.  Jeanne Graceffa (Sandwiches and More) and Michelle Gallant (Country Cuts) and their partners know that the whole town is waiting for their shops to open. That end of town will be really busy if we could get a few more businesses to take a chance and make an investment.

Congratulations to the Dragons who were honored as Downeast Athletic Conference All-Stars for spring sports.  They were Tyler Cochran, Damon Lincoln, C.J. Brown, Courtney James and Sara Boies.  I believe the Dragons’ Softball Team won the sportsmanship award for the DAC also.  Great job, Dragons.

I would like to apologize to Halie Smith, Jaydn Smith, Maya Gallant and MacKenzie Campbell for not getting their picture in the paper for earning money and giving it to the Woodland Public Library.  My camera disk was corrupted and no one could get the picture off the disk.  We will try again with another picture.
