Troop J Report

This week Troop J responded to 179 calls for service. The following are noteworthy complaints:

4-7-14

Trooper Kim Sawyer charged 3 men as a result of a traffic stop on Route 1 in Baileyville. The driver, Joshua Robinson, 26, of Charlotte was summonsed for OAS, Class E. Chad Robinson, 28, of Charlotte was summonsed for sale and use of drug paraphernalia. Timothy Ulvila, 28, of Calais was arrested for an outstanding warrant and for unlawful possession of a scheduled drug.

4-9-14

Trooper Chris Smith investigated a theft of cash from a residence in Hancock. The complainant and his girlfriend broke up and he discovered the cash missing while gathering his property. Trooper Smith has conducted interviews, however, it appears that the complainant is no longer cooperating with the investigation.

Trooper Jeffrey Taylor responded to a criminal mischief complaint at the Columbia Supermarket in Columbia. A male with medium build and a red hoody was seen running away from the business after removing and lighting a “Columbia Supermarket” banner on fire. The fire did not touch the building and was contained by Columbia and Addison Fire Departments. Investigation continues.

Trooper Jeffrey Taylor arrested Ashley Fenton, 28, of Jonesport on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear.

Trooper Cliff Peterson responded to a criminal mischief complaint in Surry. It was reported that graffiti had been painted on the radio station tower. The investigation continues.

4-9-14

Trooper Andy Foss summoned Nicholas Bilger, 19, of Jonesboro and cited him with attaching false plates, operating unregistered motor vehicle, OAS infraction, no insurance, no inspection. The violation occurred on Route 1, East Machias.

Trooper Andy Foss investigated a complaint of harassment in East Machias. Investigation revealed that both father and son were harassing each other. Both were warned for harassment and to have no contact with each other.

Trooper Cliff Peterson investigated a criminal mischief complaint in Deer Isle. It was reported that someone had thrown beer bottles in a driveway. The investigation continues.

4-10-14

Trooper Dan Ryan investigated a complaint of a domestic assault in Eastbrook. Parties separated prior to Ryan’s arrival.

4-11-14

Trooper Chad Lindsey arrested Angela Lawless, 38, of Baring on an active arrest warrant for unpaid fines.

Trooper Bryan Creamer arrested Jeffrey Brown, 44, of Hancock for a warrant that had been issued by Ellsworth District Court for failure to appear. Jeffrey was taken to Hancock County Jail.

Trooper Kim Sawyer received a call for 3 subjects who just entered a vacant residence in Jonesboro and no one was supposed to be there. Trooper Chris Smith, Lt. Travis Willey, and Deputy Dennis Worcester responded to find out it was the children of the owner and their friend.

Sergeant Alden Bustard arrested Justin West, 21, of Milbridge for Operating After Suspension as the result of a traffic stop in Steuben.

Trooper Jeffrey Taylor responded to an assault that occurred in Jonesport. It was reported that the woman had been assaulted by her sister. The complainant refused to press charges but did not want her sister returning to the residence. The sister was served with a written criminal trespass warning.

Trooper Jeffrey Taylor arrested Cody Newenham, 20, of Steuben on an outstanding warrant for Failure To Appear.

4-13-14

Trooper Jeffrey Taylor arrested Ashley Fenton, 27, of Jonesport for Domestic Violence Assault. Ashley assaulted a man from Milbridge while she was attempting to operate a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Trooper Cliff Peterson summonsed Peter Spindler, 61, of Surry for Operating After Suspension as a result of a traffic stop in Surry.
