2014 DAR Good Citizens

 The Hannah Weston Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution honored eight Washington County high school seniors selected by their respective schools during the annual DAR Good Citizen reception held at the Kay Parker Building in Marshfield. The students had been named by the faculty and schools as the school DAR Good Citizens for 2014 and were sponsored by the chapter in the state-wide selection of the 2014 Maine DAR Good Citizen. To be eligible as a DAR Good Citizen, the students must possess to an outstanding degree qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.

Introducing the young people and presenting them with their DAR Good Citizen pin and a cash award was Carole Sprague, chapter regent and chair of the Good Citizens program of Marshfield. Certificates from the National Society DAR will be presented during their school graduation exercises.

The Good Citizens honored were: Karrigan Scalon, Machias Memorial High School; Francesca Couture, Narraguagus High School of Harrington; Hannah Sprague, Washington Academy of East Machias and Kylee Caruso of Woodland High School of Baileyville. Honored but unable to attend were: Conor McCadden, Calais High School and Dara Turner, Shead Memorial High School of Eastport.
