“Know Your Region” Workshops in Machias, Calais

“There’s nothing to do around here!” How many times have you heard that in response to the question “What is there to do around here, anyway?” Want to learn how to keep Washington County guests in the neighborhood longer, leaving behind more of their vacation funds (maybe even at your business), and give them a reason to come back for more Downeast adventures?

Sunrise County Economic Council’s (SCEC) Jennifer Peters and Washington County Council of Governments’ Crystal Hitchings have teamed up to offer a workshop to help area businesses develop strategies to promote Washington County, keep tourists here longer, and keep them coming back. Sessions of “Know Your Region: Down East” will be offered this March in Machias and Calais.

The Machias session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 at the Machias Career Center Conference Room (53 Prescott Drive), while the Calais session is scheduled for Friday, March 7 at Washington County Community College. Both sessions will run from 9AM – 12 noon, and will cover the same content.

As space is limited to 20 participants per session, advance registration is required. Please visit www.sunrisecounty.org to register online or send your registration fee by March 3 to SCEC, 53 Prescott Drive, Suite 3, Machias, 04654. For more information, contact SCEC Communications Manager Will Tuell at 207-255-0983, or by email at wtuell@sunrisecounty.org

This workshop is part of the Maine Woods Tourism Training Initiative - a project of the Maine Woods Consortium in partnership with the Sunrise County Economic Council and Washington County Council of Governments.
