Calais PTO Prepares For Holiday Season

By Lura Jackson

On Thursday, November 14th, the Calais Parent Teacher Organization held a brief meeting in preparation for the upcoming holiday season and the events held in celebration of it. This year, the PTO is planning a Christmas crafting fair at the Calais Elementary School on December 7th, the day after the Christmas Parade. School-age children are invited to participate in the event (for a low cost), which will include a number of crafting stations for making holiday-themed gifts for friends and family members. Details will be publicized when they are finalized.

The PTO will have a float in the Christmas Parade, with a Santa’s workshop and/or scholastic theme being the popular choices. Volunteers will meet on December 4th and 5th to help put the finishing touches on the float (contact the Calais PTO on Facebook for details if interested in assisting).

The recently-held, widely successful Movie Night was also discussed, along with plans for another in the future. Potential modifications include providing water bottles and limiting popcorn production to a few runs.

The next meeting of the Calais PTO will be held on January 9th at 6:30 in the CES library. Any interested community members are welcome to attend.
