Recently The Friends of the Grange (FOG) was held at Alexander Elementary School. Those in attendance were: Susan Wallace (chair), Rhonda Oakes (treasurer), Diane McAlpine (secretary), Len Hanson, Emma Hill, Sharon Cooper, Karen Poor and Beverly Holst.

Due to legal issues, discussion was held on renaming the group. By unanimous agreement, FOG will now be known as Friends of the Generations. The group will still function as a non-profit community body.

Plans for the upcoming Christmas party, open to all residents of Alexander, Crawford and Cooper were discussed. The event will be held Saturday, December 7 at Alexander Elementary School, allowing for better accessibility and the growing attendance of the event. Santa will arrive at 4 pm and will be visiting with children until 6 pm. The event is free for all ages and gift bags will be given to every child attending. Refreshments will be provided and food donations from the public are greatly appreciated. Donations for local food pantries will also be collected.

FOG has been approached by Jordan Ayers to help sponsor an AES alumni basketball tournament to raise funds for the annual Alexander/Crawford Scholarship for high school seniors. The event will be held Saturday, December 28 with the boys game beginning at 1 pm, followed by the girls’ game. There will be an admission charge. Concessions will be provided by FOG with proceeds going to help support future community activities.

A spring/summer fundraiser was discussed and the group decided to sponsor a business advertising raffle to be held during the Hometown Jubilee. More details will be available in the future.

March 15, 2014 was chosen as the date for the Loopy Leprechaun talent show.

The group will meet in January 2014 to discuss the Christmas party as well as plan events for the upcoming year.
