Calais Celtic Concerts, in collaboration with New England Celtic Arts, Skye Theatre, will present The Navigators at the Knights of Columbus Hall, in Calais Maine on Sunday, November 17th. Curtain time will be at 6:00 PM EST. & 7:00 PM Canadian. Doors to open at 5:00 PM

The Navigators are one of Newfoundland’s most energetic and entertaining new Celtic groups made up of two of the island’s most well-known musicians. Since forming in November 2000, they have become one of the hardest working bands in the province and are now playing regularly in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Members of the band include: Fred Jorgensen (Tin Whistle, Bodhran, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals), and Arthur O’Brien (Electric/Acoustic Guitars, Fiddle and Vocals). With original songs, accapella, instrument numbers, ballads, and shanties the band has created their own sound that is suitable for a variety of shows from rock concerts to traditional Newfoundland Irish in soft seat auditoriums, from folk festivals to conferences or from pubs to parties. The duo is always guaranteed to give a great performance and have a good time.

Their popular debut CD, Dance and Sing, helped the band win the 2002 MIANL Award for Roots/Traditional Group of the Year. In 2002/2003, The Navigators made several television and radio appearances including ASN’s Breakfast Television, CTV’s Canada AM and CBC’s Pay It Forward II, Benefit for Badger. Over the first two and a half years, the band played hundreds of concerts and shows  including: The George Street Festival, AHL Classic All-Star Game, Molson’s Snow Jam 2003, 2003 Nokia Briar and Nova Scotia Kitchen Party.
