The Calais Hospital Auxiliary met last week for their monthly meeting starting with a box lunch auction, reading of the prayer. Reports were given and sign up sheet for Thanksgiving food basket raffle was passed around. We voted for external defibrillators and ATM machine for the hospital lobby.
The Christmas Bazaar will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 7 am - 2 pm. Accepting goodies for the food table, prizes, donations, etc. Can be left in the coffee shop. All will be greatly appreciated.
A thank you was given to Muriel McArthur on all her hard work for donation day. She always comes through.
The St. Croix Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, November 20th at Pembroke Methodist Church Hall. Members will “show and tell” a Christmas ornament, handmade, bought, new or old. A list of officers for 2014 will be announced. Lunch at noon.
Holiday Open House at the Chocolate Museum on Friday, November 15th.
Remember the Calais Lioness Shopping Expo on Thursday, November 21st at the Calais Motor Inn, 4 - 7 pm. There will be lavish produce displays, gift certificates, beverage and a super draw auction.
November 15th is National Young Readers Day. Read, Read, Read a book, a play, a poem on the newspage.

St. Anne’s yearly Cookie Sale is on December 7th at 8 am. Also be selling tickets for a Christmas basket filled with goodies as well as the Quilt Raffle which will be drawn on that day. Come by and get your cookies for the holiday. A great variety to choose from.
Performing at the Congregational Church in Calais on November 17th at 3 pm will be Passamaquoddy Bay Symphony Orchestra.
I dropped in at the Baileyville Methodist Church Christmas bazaar on Saturday. Crafts, fudge, attic treasures and a luncheon - dynamites, soups and sandwiches. Nice to gather and see people you don’t see often.
Patty Dahl and Heartsong will perform at Second Baptist Church on Saturday, November 23rd at 6:30 pm.
Good attendance at the Veterans’ service at St. Anne’s on Memorial Day eve. Choir members from First Congregational Church and Second Baptist joined with St. Anne’s. Taps were played by Patrick Corbett. Refreshments following the service.
