Shead Defeats Machias

Woodland High School senior Damon Lincoln has earned himself a place in the Maine high school soccer records books. In his final regular season game Damon hit 3-goals against the Shead Tigers that gave him 77-career-goals over his four year high school span. Seventy-seven goals earned Damon the 9TH place All-Time High School record for career goals in the State of Maine. Over that same time frame Damon also earned 58-assists. Shead with in 6TH place in Eastern Maine D soccer with an 8-4 record hosted #11 Machias Bulldogs in prelim action. In the opening half John Cushing earned two goals for Shead and Logan Wood hit two for the Machias guests.

The winner came with just under 15-minutes when Mark Clossey hit the winner to advance Eastport to the quarter-finals where they will face #3 Ashland. Ryan Eylar made 10 saves on 14-shots for the winners. 

The Woodland Dragons traveled to Ashland on Friday to play in the prelim round of the Eastern Maine Class D soccer championships. The hosts took advantage of five players that earned 1-goal each securing a quarter-final spot against the Eastport Shead Tigers. The Dragons Chris Thornton gathered 19-shots against the hosts.

Earlier in the week the Dragons hosted Shead needing the win to earn a playoff birth in Ashland. Damon Lincoln connected for three scores including the winner, and added an assist to the fourth goal hit by Tyler Cochran. John Cushing earned all three goals by the visiting Tigers. Chris Thornton brought in 8 of 13 for Woodland and Ryan Eylar gathered 6 of 12 for Eastport.
