The Woodland Dragons baseball team opened their 2013 campaign this past Saturday in Eastport against the Shead Tigers. Softball was called off because of wet conditions and Calais opens its season this week against Machias.

This game had a quick jump start when 2 & 3 in the Shead lineup, Joe Barnes & Nick Barnes, each doubled and Ryan Eylar singled scoring 2-runs for the hosts. A couple of errors crossed 2-more runs in the second, and the Dragons only answer came in the fourth when back to back doubles by JJ Ruane and Ryan McIver produced 2-runs. The Tigers played on with Joe Barnes on the hill to an 8-2 victory allowing just 4-hits, with 7K and 3BB. For the Tigers Nick Barnes had 3-hits, Joe Barnes and Ryan Eylar 2-hits each, and a single by Tony Theriault. For the opening Dragons Jake Hoops had 2-singles, and Ryan McIver and JJ Ruane each earned a double.
