Dressing Up For a Good Cause

By Kaileigh Deacon

The Calais Lioness group is at it again helping to raise money for a worthy cause. For the second year the Calais Lioness is hosting their Red Dress Dinner at the Calais Motor Inn Saturday February 16 at 6:00pm.

The dinner is a night of food, entertainment, and fun. The idea is to wear a red dress, the color of cardiac illness awareness, and help raise money for the Calais Regional Hospital’s Cardiac Rehab Center. The Center is designed to help cardiac patients keep tabs on their progress while staying on the correct recovery course and avoid relapse. Having the Cardiac Center in Calais helps patients stay healthy and avoid the expenses of traveling for care.

This year’s event will offer meal selections of Vegetarian Lasagna, Baked Stuffed Haddock, or Brie and Apple Stuffed Chicken. After the meal Stan Meader will provided live music for entertainment and dancing. The event will play host to several other exciting events like a photo booth courtesy of Royer Photography and door prizes courtesy of local businesses.

Last year’s event was sold out and the Lioness are hoping for the same great turnout this year. “You won’t want to miss this,” Lioness member Jessie Tompkins Howard said. Tickets are selling for $30 per ticket covering the entire fun filled night. In addition to the live entertainment and door prizes there will a cocktail hour and cash bar all evening.

To get tickets to the event you can visit Due East Realty, Mitchell & Mitchell Law Offices, Down East Credit Union, Calais Regional Hospital Community Relations Office, Artemis’ Attic, or see any Lioness member. For more information on the event or how you can help you can visit any of these businesses, talk to a Lioness Member, or check out the event page set up on Facebook.
