Band Entertains Washington Place

Brenda & The Get Arounds

On a recent Saturday afternoon, the folks at Washington Place were treated to a wonderful band called “Brenda & The Get Arounds.”

The people in this band donated their time as well as travel costs to put on this event for the residents.

There was much toe tapping, hand clapping and shouts of “Hee Haw” at the finish of every song.

Band members are Jim Russell (who kindly put this event together), Brenda and Charlie Metcalf and the Metcalf’s grandchildren, Chelsie and Kyle, and Jerry Sprague.

The residents can’t remember when they’ve had so much fun and were anxious to have the band return.

The “Get Arounds” told the activity director at Washington Place that they are committed to playing once per month at the facility. The residents and families can’t thank Brenda and the gang enough for the pleasure of their music and singing.

The residents love to have people come and perform for them; it lifts their spirits and gives them something to look forward to during the long, cold winter months when they don’t get outside much.

If there are any dance club, chorus’, bands, guitar strummers, banjo players or whatnot who would be willing to give a little time to our seniors to brighten their lives, please contact Activity Director, Linda Andrews, at Washington Place 454-3663 any day except for Monday or Wednesday.
