Not much news waiting for me when I got home from camp.  I know that there were several family reunions, company in the area visiting, Halloween at Pleasant Lake Campground and folks on trips. I sure hope that they contact me this week.  My contact information is at the end of this article.

Alexander School

Well it is that time again and the Alexander School is gearing up to welcome their students back.  Staff has already been spotted in the building preparing their classrooms for the upcoming 2016-2017 School year.  School will start on August 31st.

Indian Township

 

We at Camp Ckuwapon decided that the children should be educated about our law enforcement, fire and safety, and emergency medical personnel, and the dangers they face to protect us, the forests, and animals. 

JOYCE PERKINS

Meddybemps – Joyce Perkins, 88, passed away August 8, 2016 at Marshall Healthcare in Machias.  Joyce was born in Meddybemps on May 11, 1928 to Clifton and Zela (Lewis) Reynolds.  She attended local schools and graduated from Calais High School.  She married Merlin A.

MELVA L. LONG

Alexander – Melva Louise Long, 67, died in Bangor on August 11, 2016 after a courageous fight against cancer.  Melva was born on August 1, 1949, the second daughter of Philip and Edna (Stanhope) Donovan.  She is survived by a son, Lee Roderick; granddaughter Mallory Roderick; grandson Alexander Roderick; niece Jessica Melhiser; great niece Ashley Me

THERESA L. DANSE

Calais & Leesburg – Theresa “Terri” L. Danse (Damon), 63, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2016 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, FL surrounded by her family.  Terri was born on September 26, 1952, daughter to Howard and Evelyn (Cody) Damon.
