Meddybemps Fire

Fire and rescue crews from Meddybemps, Charlotte, Alexander, Cooper and Down East EMS responded to a fully involved structure fire at Lite Lane in Meddybemps Tuesday morning.  Meddybemps Fire Chief Ike Winchester believes the fire started in the area of the kitchen's gas stove.  Although a complete loss, the sole occupant of the trailer--Jean Campbell--was unharmed.

Roll-Over Accident

At approximately 4:20 Monday afternoon, an SUV driven by Stephen McGouldrick was travelling on Route 6 in Kossuth.  Also in the vehicle were two adult female passengers and a 3 month old female infant.  McGouldrick lost control on the icy road and rolled the vehicle down the embankment coming to rest upside down in 2.5 feet of water.  The adults sustained minor injuries.  The infant

On November 7th The Magnificent Liars’ production of Last of the Boys by Steven Dietz opens at the Eastport Arts Center, presented by Stage East. All Veterans will have free admission to this play and a portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Machias Veterans’ Home.

Calais – Gary Philip Pollock, 61, was surrounded by his family when he passed away at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor on October 31, 2014, after a very brief illness. Gary was born in Calais on October 16, 1953, son of the late Clifton and Olive (Foster) Pollock.
