Woodland Rec. Dept. News & Notes

29TH ANNUAL WOODLAND REC. DEPT. SUMMER DAY CAMP: The Woodland Rec. Dept. is proud to announce that the annual summer day camp will be back again this year for its 29th consecutive season. The camp will begin on Wed. June 25 at 9 am at the Woodland Elem. School. Children who have completed kindergarten through 7th grade are eligible to participate.

Festival Pageants

The Official Miss International TM Scholarship Pageant has been part of this celebration between Calais and St. Stephen for over 40 years. 

We will celebrate along with the festival our 41st year on Aug 6th  to kick off the festivities of the International Homecoming Festival  Aug 7th -Aug 10th.

Michael passed away in Montgomery County, Maryland after bravely battling cancer with his family by his side.  He was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Bethesda, MD.  Eldest son of Dr. Donald and Kathryn Reynolds, he had eight siblings.

"Books for Kindergartners" Collecting Donations for Washington County Schools

Brianna Jack, the 10-year old literary activist from Woodland, has organized a new fundraiser for the purpose of creating welcome bags for kindergartners in schools across Washington County. Each bag will contain a book from a Maine author as well as school supplies such as a pencil, eraser, and a book mark.

Baileyville Police Report

The Baileyville Police Department was very busy from May 27 through June 14. On duty officers made 23 traffic stops and issued eighteen warnings and seven summonses. They also responded to fifty-nine calls  with 8 being service calls.

Drawing Course at the Cobscook Community Learning Center

The Cobscook Community Learning Center is offering a Drawing Course for beginner and intermediate levels with Dave Marsanskis on Tuesdays, July 8 - August 26, 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Drawing with pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, and inkwash, students will work on individual projects while learning composition, technique and the art of seeing.

CHARLES “ROBBI” REDDING

 Cooper – Charles “Robbi” Redding, 55, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 with his mother by his side at a Bangor hospital.  Robbi was born in Calais on March 20, 1959.  After attending Woodland High School in Baileyville, he moved to Cathance Lake.

New Art Piece Displayed Downtown
