Quebec Man Sentenced for “Lying and Buying” Firearms in Maine

Bangor, Maine - United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Jeremy Gertsch, 35, of Oka, Quebec, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bangor, by Chief Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. to nearly 16 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release for making false statements in connection with the purchase of firearms.

Maine’s K-12 Junior Duck Stamp Contest Correction

 

The nineteenth annual statewide competition for the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Design Contest is underway.  

The deadline for submissions is coming up – entries must be received by March 15, 2013.  The judging for this year’s Maine Junior Duck Stamp Contest will be held at Washington County Community College on March 27th from 9:00 a.m. to noon and is open to the public.

On January 28, 2013, the American Library Association announced the top books, video and audiobooks for children and young adults, including the Caldecott Medal, Coretta Scott King Book Award, Newbery Medal, and Printz Award. With more than 20,000 children’s book titles published each year, to be chosen as a winner or an honor book is remarkable accomplishment.

Trooper Jason Fowler summonsed Jared Foster, (19) of Danforth for Receiving Stolen Property stemming from a case from October of 2012 in Danforth. A fish finder was stolen from a business on Route 169 and was recently recovered.

The Baileyville Police Department was busy last week with agency assists, thefts, suspicious activity, subject removal and vehicle stops.

On February 11, on-duty officer assisted motorist with disabled vehicle on Route 1.

On February 11, on-duty officer assisted Calais Police Department by delivering a warning to a resident on Washington Street.
